All contributors will be given a benefit statement once a year showing:
The benefit statement is an estimate based on the contributions you have paid over the year from the previous 1 April.
We prefer members to make any requests for pension estimates through their employer. This is because the employer can accompany any request with up to date pay details to ensure that the pension estimate provided will be accurate. If up to date pay is not provided, the quotation will be done on the basis of the pensionable pay to the previous 31 March.
However, members can request an estimate by contacting us directly by phone, fax, post or email. Any enquiries made by an employee will be treated in confidence and only be referred to the employer with the employee's consent.
Employees will not be given a pension estimate on request for benefits where the employer has the final decision on retirement, even if in practice that decision will be arrived at by mutual agreement – for example, in cases of redundancy.
Employers can request estimates for pensions where they have discretion over the retiral – for example, if a member wants to retire before the age of 60. For more information, see the employers' section of this site.
