When can I retire?
The normal scheme retirement is AGE 65. You can take your pension benefits from age 60. However, your pension benefits will be reduced unless you have protection under the rule of 85.
The earliest you can take your benefits is age 60 unless you employer gives permission.
The calculator does not take into account any additional benefits you may be paying - for example additional voluntary contributions.
1. Lump sum explained -
If you built up pension membership before 1 April 2009 you automatic got a lump sum as part of your pension benefits. This is shown as the lump sum under the standard benefit package. If you have no benefits before 1 April 2009 the lump sum section will be zero.
The lump sum at the standard package remains the same because you no longer build up an automatic lumpsum. You get a bigger pension and can choose to swap some of it for a lumpsum if you wish. Read more on the what happened to the lump sum fact sheet.
2. Part time? - Remember your scheme membership is pro-rata. You can find out more by reading our part time membership factsheet .
