Why invest?
We invest employer and member contributions in the best interests of our members.
Investments are designed to make a profit which, when coupled with the contributions from members and employers, will be sufficient to pay our members’ benefits now and in the future.
How we invest
The Pensions & Trusts Committee decides the proportion of the Fund to be allocated to each asset category in the long term; for example, what proportion to invest in equities or bonds. This is known as the Fund’s asset allocation or investment strategy.
Asset allocation is decided with the help of the Fund’s actuary and Investment Advisors, and we then appoint investment managers who specialise in investing funds in certain asset categories.
